35 Years Hells Canyon

Our Crew

Our Wonderful Crew

The guides that work with Canyon Outfitters are more than just expert oarsmen & fishermen. Our guides are well versed in the history, archaeology and geology of the canyon. They make fine camp chefs as well. From baiting your hook and coaching you on the finer points of inflatable kayaking to safely rowing through some of the biggest whitewater in the west, our guides provide the knowledge and enthusiasm to leave you with a truly memorable vacation.

Introducing...

Art:

Art has been running Hells Canyon for more that 30 years and his skill with a fillet knife and a freshly caught bass is legendary, not to mention his 101 ways to cook a fish.

Curt:

Among his many talents, Curt is the master of the guitar. His evening performances, whether it be classical guitar or tunes that get the whole group singing, have taken us late in the night on many occassions.

Craig:

Craig has been with Canyon Outfitters for more years than any of us can remember! Beside helping get food organized, Craig is our 'detail' guy. He takes care of the last minute paperwork and makes sure that everyone is organized and ready to go. His other life is ranching here in Pine Valley. We don't know how we'd manage without him!

George:

37 years of guiding in Hells Canyon and a history of more that 750 multi-day river trips make George Hells Canyon's most experienced river guide and a virtual walking, talking history book!

Juniper:

My name is Juniper Vojta. I was first certified in Thai massage in Chaing Mai, Thailand in 2004. I fell in love with the art and science of bodywork and enrolled in massage school in Crested Butte, Colorado as soon as I returned from my travels. I’ve been practicing full time since then, specializing in sports therapies, deep tissue and Thai massage. I am also a yoga instructer, certified at the 200 hour level through It’s Yoga in San Francisco. I currently live in Portland, Oregon where I have a massage and private yoga practice and am a student. I love the outdoors, worldwide travel, gardening, dancing and my cat.

Emma:

I was raised in Northern Idaho and spent most of my time growing up going camping, skiing, fishing, hiking, and river rafting.  I got an associates degree in hospitality management from Lewis Clark State College in 2002,  from there I traveled around resort hopping from places like Glacier National park in Montana to Alta ski resort in Utah, and Seattle, Riggins Id, the Gauley River in West Virginia, and Lowell Idaho on the Lochsa river.  In 2005 I went to Massage school and Since 2006 I have been splitting my time between Boise and McCall Idaho doing massage.  In 2007 I got my Esthetician license which complements the massage very nicely.  I currently am working on my yoga teacher training certificate and when I finish that I am going to pursue studies to become a dietician.
We are proud of  the Canyon Outfitters crew and consider them to be the best on the river, in fact, we think of them as family!

Brigitte:

I have been doing massage full-time since 1996 when I started working at Breitenbush Hot Springs doing massage, leading yoga classes and teaching meditation.  I've been doing massage at NIKE Corporation on employees and athletes alike since 2003. I've collected several different styles of massage over the years, from lighter energy work like Reiki and Polarity to Deep Tissue and Structural Integration work, with Shiatsu and some other things in between.  Mostly I enjoy practicing Biodynamic Massage which combines Cranio-Sacral work with deep structural work.  My massage tends to be deep and thorough, but I can also focus on lighter more relaxing work as well. I am a Certified Yoga Instructor. I look forward to meeting you and enjoying the amazing experience of rafting Hell's Canyon with George and Lynette's amazing crew! This'll be my fifth year!
